A delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Defence & Aviation (MoDA) visited the Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA) on Tuesday Jan. 12, 2010. Received by CoEIA Director Dr. Khaled Alghathbar, the delegation was headed by Eng. Mohammed Abdul Aziz Alghufaid; Chief of MoDA Computer Dept.  Eng. Alghufaid also is the Director of MoDA Internet Service Center and Supervisor of Computer Emergency Response Team-SA.

The Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA)-King Saud University (KSU) made a distinguished step by joining a group of online social networks e.g. YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. The step is intended to provide CoEIA with an additional means for publishing its awareness articles, news, lectures, and training advertisements.

The Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (COEIA) - King Saud University (KSU) issued warnings about some viruses that exploit the “AUTORUN” feature of storage devices such as USB, Memory Cards, and CD/DVD once they are attached to the computer. The operating system immediately executes these malwares without permission from the users. This type of viruses is named AUTORUN VIRUSES.

The Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (COEIA) – King Saud University (KSU) held the first gathering of information security researchers. More than 20 researchers from various governmental, educational, and military sectors attended the gathering. They exchanged academic and research papers besides holding discussions about information security and fighting e-crime as well as information management at the Arab security entities. 

On Monday Jan. 4, an agreement of cooperation was fixed between the Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA)  represented CoEIA director Dr. Khaled Alghathbar and the College of Computer & Information Science represented by its dean Dr. Hosam bin Mohammed Ramdan. The agreement allows CoEIA to provides its services through its researchers, consultants to lecture information security specialized materials to all academic stages (graduate, MA, and PhD) besides supervising the students' projects as well as their MAs and PhDs.
