COEIA: Biometrics Lecture print email

biometrics_loLately, the biometric technology proved itself as an effective tool to solve the problems of authentication. Biometrics-based authentication uses physiological and behavioral characteristics related to face, fingerprints, iris, voice, and gait that cannot be easily shared, forgotten, or stolen. 


Therefore, the Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA) held a lecture entitled "Biometrics: Changing the Paradigm of Personal Identification" at its premises on Tuesday Nov. 17, 2009. The lecture ”as delivered by Dr. Muhammad Khurram Khan who discussed various topics including traditional and modern authentication, biometrics characteristics, biometrics recognition process, limitations of uni-modal biometrics, and multi-modal biometric systems.
The lecture was transmitted over the internet through the webcasting service launched by the center to broadcast the lecture and activities to its members and those who are concerned with the field of information security. Registration to the webcasting service is available on CoEIA website www.coeia.edu.sa. The webcasting involved many questions that were delivered from various countries such as South Korea and other Arab countries.
